Benthos is an experimental progressive metal band hailing from Milan, Italy. Formed in 2018, the quintet comprises vocalist Gabriele Landillo, guitarists Gabriele Papagni and Enrico Tripodi, bassist Alberto Fiorani, and drummer Alessandro Tagliani. Their music uniquely blends ethereal atmospheric structures with complex, heavy riffs, creating a distinctive soundscape that captivates listeners.
In 2021, Benthos released their debut album, "II," which showcased their technical prowess and dynamic compositions. The album received acclaim for its intricate rhythms and the seamless fusion of serene melodies with powerful metal elements.
The band's live performances are described as hypnotic and chaotic, earning them recognition in the Italian metal scene. Notably, they opened for The Contortionist in 2019 and performed at Milan's Dissonance Festival in 2023.
In November 2024, Benthos signed with InsideOutMusic, marking a significant milestone in their career. They have since released singles "Fossil" and "Pure," leading up to their anticipated second full-length album, set to be released in spring 2025.
