Van Zant

Van Zant is an American musical duo composed of brothers Donnie and Johnny Van Zant. Their music primarily falls within the Southern rock genre, blending elements of country and arena rock.


Biography:

The Van Zant brothers hail from a lineage deeply rooted in Southern rock. Their elder brother, Ronnie Van Zant, was the original lead singer of Lynyrd Skynyrd. Johnny assumed the role of lead vocalist for the reunited Lynyrd Skynyrd in 1987, while Donnie co-founded and led .38 Special.


In the 1980s, the brothers united to form Van Zant, initially focusing on Southern rock. After a hiatus, they reformed in 1998, releasing two albums under CMC International. By 2005, their musical direction shifted towards country, resulting in two albums with Columbia Records. Their 2005 album, Get Right with the Man, featured the top ten country hit "Help Somebody."
