Pure Wrath is an atmospheric black metal project hailing from Bekasi, West Java, Indonesia. Founded in 2014 by multi-instrumentalist Januaryo Hardy, the project delves into themes of nature, death, despair, and Indonesian history.
The debut album, "Ascetic Eventide," released in 2016, garnered critical acclaim and played a significant role in elevating the Indonesian black metal scene. This was followed by the sophomore release, "Sempiternal Wisdom," which expanded Pure Wrath's international presence. In subsequent years, the project continued to evolve with releases like "The Forlorn Soldier" and "Hymn to the Woeful Hearts," showcasing a maturation in songwriting and musicality.
Pure Wrath's music is characterized by a blend of aggression and melancholy, reflecting expressions of anxiety, grief, and visions of life. The project has been associated with labels such as Debemur Morti Productions.
