Project Polyphony WHEN MERCURY MET PLUTO

In "When Mercury Met Pluto," we follow the journey of The Fool, a character who grapples with pride and the humbling lessons imparted by his God. This narrative intertwines celestial imagery with profound themes of human limitation and the quest for understanding in a vast universe.

“Can you bind the chains of the Pleiades or loose the cords of Orion? Can you lead forth the Mazzaroth in their season, or can you guide the Bear with its children? Do you know the ordinances of the heavens? Can you establish their rule on the earth?" (Job 38:31-33)

The character of The Fool represents a common human experience: the belief that we can control every aspect of our lives. This pride often leads to a disconnect from the greater forces at play around us. As the narrative unfolds, The Fool is confronted with the reality that not everything is within his grasp.

Lyrics:
Should you be made to fully comprehend
There is no looking back
Should you begin to finally see it all…
Eyes deceive you? Mind betray you?

Are there words to describe it all?
Suns align, and planets fall
Are there eyes that could see it all?
Do you see the stars collide?
Don't you feel your eyes go blind?
Out of darkness the nebulae fall

Should you decide to let your hubris end
Will you never look back?
Should you bite your aureate tongue and
Let the void fill

All the words that describe it all
Suns align, and planets fall
Are there eyes that could see it all?
Can you see the stars collide?
May you finally see the light
Out of darkness the nebulae fall

You will always find a way
Yet will never fail to throw it all
(Throw it all away)
Throw it all away
Will you live long enough to tell the tale?
Time will always see you throw it all
(Throw it all away)
Throw it all away

Throw it all…
(Throw it all away)
Throw it all away
Throw it all…
(Throw it all away)
Throw it all away
Throw it all…
(Throw it all away)
Throw it all away

Travel, child, ‘til you feel the cosmos shake
Hurtle deep just to see this system break
