In a Forest Dark River Of shadows
"In a Forest Dark" is the solo project of multi-instrumentalist Mário Pereira (Eternal Mourning). This black metal project incorporates elements of gothic doom and dark influences. "River of Shadows" is the third single from the upcoming album, "Heart of Darkness," set to be released in 2024. The album is a conceptual piece based on Conrad's book of the same name.

Down the river's winding path, the boat sails,
Amidst the forest's beauty and vast skies,
Choices bloom like fleeting stars,
In an Instant, day can give way to night.
in the heart of darkness, shadows hide,
like threads of desire deep inside.
A tale of greed and power, from the abyss it streams,
A river song of elusive dreams.
River of shadows, a tide of thought's creation,
A tapestry of lies, as hearts’ deepest temptation
Beneath azure skies, where trees reach for the heavens,
A malevolent darkness, haunting, lurks deep in the core of man.
In the depths of night, where secrets do reside,
Eyes cannot unveil what our hearts choose to hide,
A perfect cloak of mist conceals the unknown,
Invisible as the darkness, where sins may be sown.
Through thickets dense and secrets old,
The boat ventures where mysteries unfold.
A fable of humanity's struggle within,
A dance of virtues and vices begin;
So, the cycle endures, the dance of the lost,
Embracing illusions, at great nature's cost
Yet hope remains, a flicker within,
To break free from the chains and let life begin.
