Ohen Wintersky
Wintersky is the first single of Ohen's forthcoming album Whispering Lies.
"Wintersky is a song about the loss of the love of a loved one, it is an ode to winter and its crisp and unforgiving beauty. Wintersky is a song about parting and coming to terms with emptiness, but also a longing for an unattainable closeness. A cry towards the winter sky as a metaphor for a loved one. It's not a classic love song to a specific person, but a metal ballad that expresses the absence of inner fulfillment.
I started composing this song long before the Ohen band was formed. The first notes were created within my first band The Mirror, where several variants of this song were created. The piano version, which I used to play, was always for me a personal expression of my inner world.
When Ohen and I decided to give this song a new form, I faced a big challenge to adapt something that had been a part of me for many years into a final form that could present the artistic expression of the whole band, not just mine. As a musician, I tried to maintain the scheme of the composition, which I had already had in my blood for almost half of my life, but also thanks to the skill and innovation of my teammates in Ohen, we took Wintersky to a level where I didn't even believe it was possible to get this piece of music.
As an artist, I knew it would be a huge challenge to express the colors of this world and this story. I am very happy that an artist who is the world leader in animated music videos for metal bands has taken up this role. Costin Chioreanu is the author of album covers and video clips of our and your favorite bands. If we were to start to name, we could talk about bands like Opeth, Borknagar, Mayhem, Rotting Christ, Ghost, Ihsahn, Avantasia... Costin has completed our Wintersky to a single visual masterpiece, his videoclip is really a magical immersion into a world that is no longer just mine."
