Grazing on a pasture one sunny day
taking a ride in a car with my herd.
Life was simple, I didn't need much
getting food to eat and shelter for the night.
I've never been beyond the farm
all so exciting new smells and new sights.
I didn't get to roam the plains
but I was cared for and lived in a safe place.
With a promise of security
we have traded away our freedom.
Just a happy ox led through the gates.
No resistance, no knowledge of what waits.
There's no heroic death, only slaughter and pain.
The meaning of life: to fill the oligarch's plates.
What my mother told me, what the teachers said
to defend the country against the evil west.
I've never been away from home
all so exciting, new clothes and new towns.
All aboard the train to take us where
we are needed to save our bretheren.
