"Probably the most „in-your-face“-track of the album. Yet it shows a wide range of basically everything that makes GRÀB sound unique. There are parts reminding me of the best days of bands such as Norwegian GEHENNA, there’s dulcimer bringing in the melody, there’s midtempo, there’s blast beat, there’s groove and a slow ending. Let’s take a look at the lyrics: The Bavarian word „Kerkermoasta“ translates to „Dungeon Master“. It’s pretty obvious: The reaper is the dungeon master. We are all just prisoners to this world and death alone decides, when we are allowed to be free. With other words: Life creates the doorway, death holds the key." --- Grànt
English translation:
Dungeon Master
The old gate creaks in the wind
like a toiling dungeon master
Is it the dead that sing to us
and lead us into endless night?
And the Reaper's wretched greeting
from door to door moves through the land
All lives in his hand must wilt
so do don your finest shroud
At night, the dead ride fast
as if straight from hell they came
Hasten through fog, hasten through night
They do just as the Devil wants
Once more He sends his journeyman
Pulls them under where they stand
The dungeon master swings His scythe
to silence homestead rosaries.
From house to house the Grisly Reaper roams,
bearing tidings from the Devil
Only the moon does witness bear
as he gives the children of man their final rest.
