*"Ghazal For The Embrace Of Fire "*

*Lyrics:*

We walk in a garden that hangs between the grasping palms of death
Clutching at our dreams until we draw no more breath
See these many forking paths like the ensnaring serpent’s tongue
Trodden deep with heavy thoughts more ancient than the names of gods

The dead stumble to their graves believing time will spare them
despite the bones that pale beside them

So many forking paths

So many forking paths

So many forking paths

Like the ensnaring serpents tongue
All lead to eternity

The pitiless sword of Elam gleams
And the best blood of Erech flows in streams
I would forge from the sea the flesh of men
I will forge myself a vessel of foam

(An Incantation To Enable A Person To See A Ghost
Babylonian 7th century BC
Excerpt from a tablet in the library of Ashurbanipal, British Museum k.2779)

Above the stars weep knives and fight the burning lamps of the morning
In the of the Majlis al Djinn below
They cry out

We walk alone between a thousand worlds
We hear the screams of a thousand tongues
We have sought to reach heaven but found it filled with burning flames

So many forking paths

All lead to eternity

This album is not intended to be anti-religious in any way. All criticisms are levied at intolerance, and the manipulations of the power-hungry.
