Aversed Lucid Decapitation

"Lucid Decapitation" from Aversed's new album, 'Erasure of Color,' out March 21, 2025
Pre-Order Erasure of Color here: https://lnk.to/aversed

From the band:

"In 1905, a French physician, Dr. Jacques Beaurieux, performed an experiment on prisoners condemned to die by guillotine. Immediately after his subjects were decapitated, he called out their names seeking to determine to what extent and for how long consciousness remained in their detached skulls. In “Lucid Decapitation”, we explore the horrifying prospect of being subjected to such a test, and our world’s hunger for knowledge, regardless of the cost. What does it feel like to be a head, detached from your body? Can science ever be justified in performing such grisly experiments?"

LYRICS:
Strapped down
Cold sweat on the gurney
Furrowed sockets gaze down on you
Shepherded through the hallways
To the experimentation chamber

Bated observers seek our reward

Dull strength rips sinew, severs bone
Crimson spray, orgasmic blade

Praise to the savior
For He wields the razor
We seek when life, exits mind
Praise to the savior
For He wields the razor
We wreak the end of all mankind

Solo: Marchand

Fingers ply for recognition from your dimming eyes
They fix themselves on mine
Lucid spasmodic faculties
Under control, undeniable!

More flesh necessary
To confirm these conclusions

Praise to the savior
For He wields the razor
We seek when life exits your mind
Exits your mind

Blinded
Omnidimensional
Infinite
Absolute
Agony
Feel the blade

Saturating
All synapses fire
Disembodied, spectate from above
Approach the white light, rising
Is this considered life?

Solo: Marchand

Mortality, each execution closer to mastery
I cannot contain a smile
God trembles in fear of me

Praise to the savior
For He wields the razor
We seek when life exits mind
Praise to your savior
For I wield the razor
I seek your end for my pastime

Please, doctor!
Nerves on fire
Let the mind expire
