Tides of Technocracy is an anarchist-inspired critique of the use of technology and power by corporations and government to control the masses. They deliver this critique via a mix of thrash, black, and death metal with an undying respect for speed metal and NWOBHM. Tides' songwriting makes use of a carefully selected blend of harmony and brutality to transpose the dystopia that is unfolding around us. The blackened deathrash band plays extreme metal with the perfect blend of old-school crunch and modern sleekness, delivering everything from catchy melodies and dark harmonies to thrashing gallops and squealing slams.
"Thread of Three Fates" is Tides of Technocracy's sophomore album. The band further refined their eclectic blend of melodic black metal, catchy thrash riffing, slamming death metal, and NWOBHM-esque harmonies. The original Tides vocalist, David Van Wagenen, returned to record this one album because he is the only man capable of delivering engaging cadences of every style from hardcore punk/thrash shouting, to deathgrind squealing, to black metal shrieking, to Travis Ryan-esque quasi-singing, and beyond. Fabio Alessandrini from Annihilator and Rhapsody fame wrote and recorded drums on this album, which was a definite step up from the sticks on previous Tides releases. Andy Kowalski and David Pfeifer's songwriting skills noticeably improved too. The songs are more masterfully crafted and cohesive, while still retaining the dynamic stylistic variety of previous releases. "Thread of Three Fates" proves to be not only the band's most compelling effort, but also one of the most thoughtful, engaging, and fresh modern metal releases of 2024.
