After lurking in the underground since 1999, it was in 2007 that ‘As Hope Dies’ truly unleashed
ONHEIL’s sound in the metal scene. With a newly formed and long-lasting strong lineup,
ONHEIL re-forged their sound, dubbed by some as “Black Metal Iron Maiden.”
That style has been ONHEIL’s trademark ever since. You hear it loud and clear in this track:
fierce Black Metal, laced with classic Heavy Metal riffs and melodies. It’s a combo that shouldn’t
work… but it works damn well. Especially with the then-new lineup featuring two lead vocalists
and three guitarists.
First unleashed as a single on the long-gone MySpace, its lyrics about a decaying world hit
harder now than ever. The track opened doors: ONHEIL landed support slots for VADER and
MAYHEM, then scored their first record deal, setting off years of gigs and festival mayhem.
This faster version is praised by die-hard fan and now it’s ready to tear into fresh ears. A video
packed with old footage will show exactly how things got started and marks the beginning of
ONHEIL’s fire that still burns strong today.
