The band says:
"'“If am I a God? Uhh, I don't care... I only guide the clouds.' With these words, Rainmaker begins — a song dedicated to Charles Mallory Hatfield (Ego vs. Mother Nature).
Inspired by the scientist's climate experiments, and in particular the events that took place in San Diego in 1916, the track reflects on his attempts to control the weather through his studies, which ultimately led to disaster.
In our opinion, Rainmaker is the true outsider of the album.
It’s the meanest track, and we could easily define it as the most metal.
It was the first song we wrote with this lineup.
We’ve always liked it, and even though it differs a bit from the rest of the album, we wanted to include it in Ægony because it’s always been a favorite to play live and consistently made a strong impact on our audience.
Enjoy listening!"
