Calico Jack hoist the sails once more with “Don’t Forget Your Old Shipmate”, the first single from their upcoming EP "Jack Speak Shanties" out next 18th July 2025
Raise the sails and ready the cannons — Calico Jack return with a stormy new voyage into the heart of maritime lore. Today May 16th, the Italian pirate metal crew unveils their brand-new single and official video for “Don’t Forget Your Old Shipmate”, the first release from their upcoming EP "Jack Speak Shanties" set for release on July 18th, 2025 via Rockshots Records.
After the blazing, wild Caribbean raids of their previous two albums, Calico Jack steer toward colder waters with "Jack Speak Shanties" — an homage to the timeless sea shanties that have echoed across oceans for centuries. These songs, born to ease the strain of brutal life at sea, have been part of the band’s DNA since the very beginning.
“Don’t Forget Your Old Shipmate”, famously featured in the film "Master and Commander", is a traditional 19th-century naval chant brought back to life with a fierce, Korpiklaani-style humppa twist. Ferocious, rhythmic and drenched in salt and sweat, the track blends folk authenticity with Calico Jack’s signature brand of wild and aggressive pirate metal.
Every track on "Jack Speak Shanties" preserves the original spirit and melody of these historic songs while wrapping them in a hard metal shell that never betrays the band’s unmistakable style offering a seafaring soundtrack forged in steel.
